The conversion of this Victorian stable block was shortlisted for a Building Excellence Award by Local Authority Building Control in 2016.

Next door is Marker’s Cottage, a Grade II* Listed building that forms part of the Killerton Estate; the proposals came under the scrutiny of the National Trust as well as East Devon District Council. Through delicate negotiation Planning Permission was secured for work desperately needed to prevent this historic building falling into ruin.

The building was sympathetically extended using locally sourced recycled materials. New timber windows and doors compliment the character of the building and allow the natural light to penetrate the house. The dramatic entrance hall has a double-height vaulted ceiling to make the most of the large window and create a sense of arrival. The bathrooms and kitchen are all to a high specification and the house benefits from solar hot water system and underfloor heating.

The grounds have been fully landscaped and garaging provided, all using a palette of natural materials drawn from the main house.

Willow House is a fabulous and unique family home, with an abundance of country character.
