Its always nice when clients return with a new project. This time our long-established clients asked us to help them convert this former Victorian Primary School built in 1872 to create 11 new homes.

The Planning stage presented challenges no one could imagine but, ultimately, we were successful in securing Planning Permission.

The former schoolhouse has been converted and extended to form 7no homes, with the original school façade retained, enhanced and repaired. In addition, 4no new homes were built in the grounds site.

The choice and colour of materials throughout was influenced by local buildings, and with the provision of off-street parking and beautiful private and communal gardens, this has become a unique and attractive regenerative development at the heart of the community once more.

The overwhelming feedback on the properties is amazing and there has been an outpouring of love and thanks from past pupils and locals for not only keeping the school building but maintaining a high standard of design sympathetic to the architectural style of the school and surrounding area.

The renovation of the site has even attracted the Torbay Civic Society to place a Blue Plaque to Commemorate Richard Mallock MP who donated the school to the area in 1872.
